Why Choose a Doula or Birth Support Professional?

- Shorter labours
- Reduced need for pain relief (e.g., epidurals, medications)
- Lower rates of medical interventions, including inductions and caesarean births
- Higher likelihood of spontaneous vaginal birth
- Improved birth satisfaction and emotional outcomes
- Better outcomes for baby, including higher Apgar scores
- Increased breastfeeding initiation and continuation
- Lower rates of postpartum depression and anxiety
- Greater confidence and sense of control during labour and birth
- Emotional continuity and advocacy, especially in hospital settings
We believe that every birthing person deserves to feel safe, respected, and supported— no matter the birth setting or plan.
Birth with Steph – Holistic Birth Support Tailored to You
Steph’s Birth Support Package offers a unique and deeply nurturing approach to childbirth, blending modern knowledge (background in midwifery) with ancient healing techniques to support your body, mind, and emotions throughout your journey.
As part of her package, Steph includes the use of Reiki in the weeks leading up to your due date, and — when appropriate — as a gentle method to help encourage spontaneous labour. She has supported numerous women who have gone into labour naturally following Reiki healing sessions.
Steph is a Reiki Master Teacher trained in the Usui System of Natural Healing, and regularly teaches Reiki to midwives, doulas, nurses, and health visitors. Her sessions are grounded, compassionate, and aligned with your personal birthing intentions.
In the birthing room, Reiki is used to:
Reduce physical pain and tension during labour, therefore facilitating the birth process and reducing discomfort
Promote emotional calm, connection, and a sense of safety
Balance energy and reduce fear or anxiety
Support hormonal flowby activating the parasympathetic nervous system (rest-and-digest mode)
Create a peaceful environment for both the birthing person, the partner, the baby and the staff!
Research has shown that Reiki can reduce stress, improve sleep, decrease perception of pain, and enhance overall well-being — all of which can support physiological birth (Sources: NCBI, International Journal of Childbirth Education, Journal of Evidence-Based Complementary & Alternative Medicine).
Steph is also a fully accredited Hypnobirthing Teacher, trained in hypnosis and clinical hypnotherapy, and a certified Mindfulness Teacher. She intuitively blends these modalities to help you:
Build confidence and reduce fear around birth
Learn practical tools for relaxation and focus
Cultivate a deep connection with your body and baby
Set clear intentions for a calm, empowered birth experience
Steph brings to her practice over a decade of experience in midwifery, perinatal care (including mental health), and complementary therapies. Her approach is always person-centred, inclusive, and trauma-informed.
Postnatal Support – Continuing the Healing Journey
Once your baby is born, Steph steps fully into her role as a lactation consultant and postnatal specialist, offering bespoke support that honours both your baby’s needs and your emotional wellbeing.
She is known for her exceptional ability to read babies' energies, gently identify tensions in their bodies, and tailor care accordingly. As an accredited baby massage instructor, she uses a combination of massage and Reiki to support babies in recovering from birth, easing digestive discomfort, improving sleep, and helping them feel safe in their new world.
Steph attunes deeply to your baby’s cues, and empowers you to do the same — helping you build trust in your own instincts.
Her many years working on postnatal wards in the NHS, as well as alongside private clients, have equipped her with extensive knowledge of infant feeding— from breastfeeding and bottle feeding, to combination feeding and pumping. She is always supportive of your feeding choices, and provides evidence-based, emotionally aware guidance, especially when those choices were shaped by medical or emotional challenges.
Steph understands that breastfeeding can be beautiful— but also triggering or complex. She is trauma-aware, and works sensitively with families to:
Explore and name past feeding struggles
Co-create gentle, realistic feeding plans going forward
Navigate breastfeeding after trauma or with existing mental health conditions
Offer emotional support when feeding doesn’t go as planned.
Steph’s strength lies in supporting families where feeding is not just physical, but also emotional and relational. Whether you’re bottle feeding expressed milk, formula, or anything in between, she’s there to support your choices without judgment — and to hold space for healing, empowerment, and growth.
